What is the purpose of this tool?

  • The Course Transfer Tool transfers the management and gradebook access of a course to a different account email.
  • Permissions to view and edit the student gradebook are selected as part of the transfer process. Only one account email can be used to install and assign a course to a student’s device. So before using the Course Transfer Tool, decide which option below works best for your situation.

What are my options when considering the Course Transfer Tool?

Option 1: Transfer a student's course and all permissions from the original account to a different account (transferee).

Example: A parent purchases a course but wants another person, like a teacher, to take full control of the course, including installing the app and managing the gradebook. The parent uses the tool to transfer the course and all permissions to the teacher’s account.

Course transfer option 1
  • This option will cause the original owner to lose all access to the student’s course and gradebook.
  • The new owner (transferee) of the course will need to set a password if they do not already have a TT account.

Option 2: Transfer a student’s course from the original account to a different account (transferee) but share view and edit access to the student’s gradebook.

Example: A teacher purchases a course but needs a parent to install the app and course on the student’s device. The teacher uses the tool to move the course to the parent’s email but shares their permissions to view and/or edit the student’s gradebook with the parent.

Course transfer option 2
  • This option will cause the original owner of the course to lose their ability to set up and manage the app on the student’s device but both parties can access the student’s gradebook, eBook, and answer key through the Parent Portal.
  • The new owner (transferee) of the course will need to set a password if they do not already have a TT account.

Option 3: Transfer a student’s course from the original account to a different account (transferee) but give view-only access of the student’s gradebook to the transferee.

Example: A teacher purchases a course but needs a parent to install the app and course on the student’s device. The teacher uses the tool to move the course to the parent’s email but restricts the parent’s ability to edit the student’s gradebook.

Course transfer option 3
  • This option will cause the original owner to lose their ability to set up and manage the app on the student’s device. Both parties can access the student’s gradebook, eBook, and answer key through the Parent Portal; however, only the original owner can edit the gradebook.
  • The new owner (transferee) of the course will need to set a password if they do not already have a TT account.
